5 pieces of base vampire and Vampire Lord armor are newly available, listed here. 9 pieces of Dawnguard armor are newly available, listed here. 11 pieces of new Falmer armor are available, which can be found here, with a DG distinguishing the newly-added content from content available in the original game. Shellbug Helmet - Available as a craftable helmet, made using parts from the new Shellbug. Frenzy Poison Recipe - Provides a recipe to yield the Frenzy effect. Soul Husk Extract - Resist 25% of magic for 60 seconds interrupts the soul drain effect in the Soul Cairn. Redwater Skooma - Special variety of Skooma made with the blood from Bloodspring of Lengeir's Feast in Redwater Den. 
Potion of Blood - Equivalent to feeding on blood for vampires vampires heal 100 points of Health. Yellow Mountain Flower - Harvested from the yellow-flowered variety of Mountain Flower. Poison Bloom - Harvested from the plant of the same name. Gleamblossom - Harvested from the flower of the same name. Chaurus Hunter Antennae - Dropped by Chaurus Hunters and Chaurus Hunter Fledglings. Ancestor Moth Wing - Can be acquired by harvesting Ancestor Moths that have landed on plant surfaces. Armored Trolls are much more effective in combat than the Blood Hound dogs that you get from the vampire castle.This page documents the new items added by the Dawnguard add-on. If your looking for a second follower, then it might be a good idea to join the Dawnguard vampire hunters instead. While neither faction is the best, many players may find the vampire faction to be a bit more interesting story wise - especially considering you have access to a huge castle! However, the Blood Hound dog follower is not nearly as good as the Armored Trolls that you can hire from the Dawnguard. Auriel's bow is able to block out the sun for a day in Skyrim and does sun damage when shot at enemies! Serana is the best, if not one of the best followers in all of Skyrim! She has powerful magic and uses conjuration magic to summon dead enemies to help you fight! You also get a powerful bow called Auriel's bow no matter what faction you side with. 
Regardless of which faction you choose in the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC, you still get Serana as a follower. Which is the best faction? Dawnguard or Volkihar Vampries?
